I am a U.S. Army/Desert Storm veteran and I take issue with a letter on Sunday headlined, “’Proud’ of Boebert’s work for the military.”
The letter writer is the new vice chair of the Colorado GOP, so I would hope she would be more familiar with Lauren Boebert’s dismal record supporting veterans.
I recommend everyone do their own research when it comes to Boebert’s record on veterans’ issues. She voted against expanding health care access to veterans exposed to toxins, bipartisan legislation to end veteran homelessness and helping veterans who were scammed by for-profit colleges. She even voted against support for veterans in rural areas.
There are veterans experiencing serious health issues from the burn pits in Afghanistan/Iraq, and others who are suffering from exposure to Agent Orange and sarin gas decades after the fact.
Tomorrow is the one-year anniversary of the PACT Act being signed into law. This law provided the largest expansion of health care and benefits in the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ history. Boebert voted against it. She has voted more than 15 times against veterans’ interests.
Veterans, especially veterans in need, should not be used as political props – particularly by our congressional representative.
Boebert’s voting record, aligning herself with the most extreme and radical Republican members of the House, is a clear indication that she puts her own political celebrity first – even before the men and women who have served this country bravely.
