Prop HH ‘will not lower property taxes’

Proposition HH is not about saving Coloradans from massive property tax increases. It’s about state politicians repealing the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights in Colorado, the juiciest prize of all for greedy politicians. TABOR is the only thing preventing the Colorado state government from growing out of control. Look at other states that do not have TABOR, like California.

Make no mistake, our state government does not care if you can afford your property taxes. It only cares for how much money it can take from us. Our Legislature could easily meet and enact legislation to cap property taxes without placing the issue on a ballot. However, that would not give the state access to billions of tax dollars currently protected by TABOR.

Because of the protection we get from TABOR, any tax increase requires statewide voter approval. Proposition HH is only going to the ballot because it’s increasing our taxes.

State Sen. President Fenberg has said if the state is allowed to collect more tax dollars, it will help our schools, fire departments and libraries. It’s the same old promise that never gets kept! If legislators really wanted to spend more on schools, fire departments or libraries, they could prioritize the money they already get each year! And right now the state budget has grown to about $40 billion.

Vote “no“ on Proposition HH. It will not lower property taxes. And our government doesn’t need any more of our money. It needs to do a better job with the money it already takes.
