9:54 p.m. A man was seriously injured in a car crash and was flown to a hospital out of Cortez. Earlier that night, the man allegedly took his girlfriend’s purse and cellphone without permission. The woman’s mother reported the missing purse and phone.
1:03 a.m. A woman at Happy Valley Trailer Park, 203 E. Seventh St., was arrested on suspicion of violating a protection order.
3:18 a.m. A woman driving in the 900 block of South Broadway was pulled over for driving a stolen rental truck. The rental truck had been rented by the woman on July 11 and the rental contract ended July 12. The woman was arrested on suspicion of aggravated motor vehicle theft.
2:11 p.m. A man in the 600 block of South Washington Street was arrested on a warrant.
5:35 p.m. A man arguing with a woman in the Montezuma County Sheriff’s Office parking lot, 730 E. Driscoll St., was arrested on suspicion of violating a protection that restricts him from contacting the woman.
9:30 p.m. A man driving a truck allegedly made a right turn onto East Main Street from North Mildred Road while straddling two lanes and did not use a turn signal. An officer signaled to the man to pull over in the 500 block of East Main Street, and the man pulled into the Burger Boy parking lot, 400 E. Main St. The man was arrested on suspicion of DUI, driving with a revoked license, failure to use a turn signal and making a right turn from a wrong lane.
10:43 a.m. A man in the 400 block of East Main Street was arrested on suspicion of assault. The man had offered watermelon to a woman who told him she did not want any. The man allegedly punched the woman in the chest and threw pieces of watermelon at her.
12:29 p.m. A dog in the 1000 block of Cornett Street allegedly hopped a fence and attacked another dog. The man whose dog was being attacked interceded and was bit on the arm by the attacking dog. The attacking dog’s owner was cited with maintenance of animals that disturb the peace.
1:37 p.m. A man in the bathroom of Tequila's Mexican Restaurant, 1740 E. Main St., was arrested on six warrants.
7:45 p.m. A person driving a white vehicle hit a parked car in the Safeway parking lot, 1580 E. Main St., and drove off.
10:45 p.m. A man at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., was cited with trespassing.
6:06 a.m. A man at Speedway, 921 E. Main St., allegedly left with a case of alcohol without paying. The man was cited with shoplifting and issued a trespass notice.
11:30 a.m. A man filling up his motorcycle at Speedway, 2021 E. Main St., left his helmet at the gas pump. When the man returned his helmet was gone. Security camera footage shows a camp trailer blocking the view of the helmet and when it leaves the helmet is gone. The estimated value of the helmet was $700.
1:48 p.m. A man allegedly picked a fight with another man at Veterans Park, 803 E. Montezuma Ave. The first man allegedly used a knife and cut the second man across the brow above his right eye. The second man tried to run away, and two women in the area assisted. The first man allegedly punched one of the women in the face multiple times. The first man was arrested on suspicion of assault.
2:41 p.m. A woman returning a cart to a corral at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., pushed the cart through the stopping mechanism, which caused about 25 carts to roll into the parking lot and hit two parked cars.
5:44 a.m. A man who yelled at employees and knocked over trash cans at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., was cited with trespassing.
7:03 a.m. A man in the Walmart parking lot, 1835 E. Main St., was cited with trespassing.
4:15 p.m. A man yelling and making threats at Subway and Speedywash Laundromat, 1219 E. Main St., was arrested on suspicion of menacing and disorderly conduct. The arresting officer established contact with the Community Intervention Program on the man’s behalf as the man’s behavior was suspected to be caused by a mental health crisis.
10:07 a.m. A man performing maintenance work at Conoco, 302 W. Main St., noticed the hose cover ramps were missing. The ramps were bolted down and the man believes they were intentionally taken.
5:11 p.m. A bail bondsman told an officer a woman had been drinking while at her mother’s home in the 200 block of East Seventh Street. The officer was given permission to enter the home by the mother via the bondsman and found the woman unconscious in a bedroom. The woman was arrested on suspicion of violating a protection order.
6:02 p.m. A man turned himself over to the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., on a warrant.
6:27 p.m. A man in the lower 100 block of East Andrew Lane was arrested on suspicion of violating a restraining order. The arresting officer and jail staff put the man in contact with Axis Mental Health.
7:19 p.m. A man at Veterans Park, 830 E. Main St., who reportedly was sitting on a picnic table with his pants down was cited with indecent exposure and violating bond conditions.
7:33 p.m. A woman picked up her brother from his ex-wife’s residence in the 200 block of South Maple Street and made an obscene gesture at the ex-wife and the ex-wife’s sister. The sisters followed her in a car and somewhere on Main Street both vehicles pulled over. The ex-wife’s sister reportedly slapped the woman and grabbed her hair, and the woman punched the sister repeatedly. The sisters returned home. The woman dropped her brother of at Denny Lake Park, 27428 U.S. Highway 160, and went back to the residence. When the woman arrived an officer was already there. The ex-wife’s sister was cited with disorderly conduct, and the ex-husband’s sister was cited with disorderly conduct, driving without a valid license and failing to provide proof of insurance.
12:03 p.m. An employee of Southwest EMS was picking up medical equipment in the 900 block of North Edith Street when she was bit in the arm by a patient’s dog. The dog punctured the skin, and the woman was treated at the Southwest Memorial Hospital Emergency Room, 1311 N. Mildred Road. The employee did not want to pursue charges and the dog was put on a 10-day quarantine.
2:07 p.m. A naked woman running in Centennial Park, 800 E. Montezuma Ave., was arrested on two warrants. While waiting for emergency medical services, the woman grabbed onto an officer and was pulled off by another officer. The woman was booked into jail on suspicion of a protection order violation, disorderly conduct, obstruction and resisting arrest.
3:23 p.m. Two men in the parking lot of the DaVita Cortez Dialysis Center, 610 E. Main St., were cited with trespassing, and one cited with violating a protection order.
6:36 p.m. A woman whose dogs were loose in the parking lot of Safeway, 1580 E. Main St., was cited with dogs running at large. While an officer spoke with the woman, her dogs returned to her. One of the dogs ran into the store, and multiple people helped to remove the dog.
7:48 p.m. A man in the City Market parking lot, 508 E. Main St., was told by an officer to leave the area. When the officer went to get into his patrol car, the man kicked the vehicle. The man was arrested on suspicion of disturbing the peace, interfering with an officer, destroying public property and trespassing.
8:38 a.m. An officer served a warrant to a woman in custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.
11:34 a.m. An officer served four warrants to two men, two per man, in custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.
2:22 p.m. A man in the Montezuma County Social Services parking lot, 109 W. Main St., was arrested on a warrant.
8:44 p.m. A man in the DaVita Cortez Dialysis Center parking lot, 610 E. Main St., was arrested on a warrant.
11 p.m. A man in the Maverik parking lot, 455 N. State St., was arrested on three warrants.
