Mancos shops open for Small Business Saturday

Businesses in downtown Mancos will be offering deals this weekend for Small Business Saturday.

“The goal is to bring people in to Mancos on that Saturday to shop local and shop small,” said Marie Chiarizia, of the Mancos Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Businesses including Browns Country Store and the Mancos Visitor Center will be offering discounts on items. Raven House Gallery will be demonstrating enameling techniques, Chiarizia said.

“Several incentives are being offered by many of the businesses specifically that day but also for the whole month,” she said.

The chamber of commerce also is sponsoring a scavenger hunt with a grand prize of $50 cash. People can search for clues that are located at businesses around town that may lead them to a Golden Cowboy statue and the prize. The first clue is located at the Visitor’s Center, 101 Bauer Avenue, and the hunt will kick off around 11 a.m., Chiarizia said.

Food establishments such as Absolute Bakery and Fahrenheit Coffee will be open and serving refreshments.

“We want to help promote local businesses where people will have a tendency to go to bigger stores,” Chiarizia said.
