‘Calling for passage of CORE Act’

Three cheers to Sen. Michael Bennet, Rep. Joe Neguse and Sen. John Hickenlooper, Reps. Diana DeGette, Jason Crow, Yadira Caraveo and Brittany Pettersen for reintroducing the Colorado Outdoor Recreation and Economy (CORE) Act.This bill, which enjoys broad support, represents a significant opportunity to protect our natural heritage and promote sustainable economic growth in our region.

As an engaged community member and a City Council member, I have witnessed firsthand the value of our public lands and the vital role they play in supporting our local economy and quality of life. The CORE Act would safeguard roughly 400,000 acres of wilderness, preserve critical wildlife habitat and enhance recreational opportunities. The bill will foster economic growth and job creation, particularly in rural communities heavily dependent on tourism and outdoor industries.

I stand with my fellow Coloradans in urging Congress to swiftly pass the CORE Act, as it will protect our natural resources and promote economic resilience. Let us come together to preserve our cherished public lands and waters, and pass on a legacy of natural beauty to future generations. I encourage all readers to contact their representatives and join the chorus of voices calling for the passage of the CORE Act.

Thank you to Bennet, Neguse and all the co-sponsors for championing this important legislation. Together, we can ensure that Colorado’s natural heritage remains intact for years to come.

I express this support as a citizen, not as the voice of Council.
