In honor of Earth Month, Suburban Propane employees and Farmington City Councilors Sean Sharer, District 2, and Janis Jakino, District 4, joined forces Thursday to clean up the beaches and park areas of Lake Farmington.

Cody Greenwood, manager of Suburban Propane in Farmington, said he was helping as part of the company’s Go-Green initiative. “We go out and try to make a difference every year at this time,” he said. Greenwood’s daughter also participated in the cleanup.

“It’s really clean out here – it’s beautiful – and we want to try to keep it that way. It brings a lot of happiness to a lot of people, so we thought we’d help Mother Earth and return the favor,” Greenwood said.

“We’re just trying to get Farmington Lake clean but, surprisingly, it’s pretty clean,” said Tammy Garlington, a customer service adviser for Suburban Propane. “People are doing really good at cleaning up after themselves.”

The Lake Farmington cleanup by the employees and city councilors was part of Suburban Propane Partners, L.P.’s national, monthlong celebration of Earth Month. The company’s employees have participated in initiatives cleaning up open spaces, beachfronts, parks and more across the country.
