7:47 p.m., A woman reported that an injured woman asked her to call the police and provided an address in the 28100 block of County Road M. A man at the address told an officer he had not witnessed anything but had been told the following: His cousin’s wife started to punch herself in the face. The cousin attempted to stop the wife and was bit by a dog. Then, the wife gave her side of the incident. She told the officer she went to the house with the cousin to care for the dog. After some time, the cousin started to hit her and pinned down her down. The dog bit the cousin, and her blood dripped onto her wife. The wife also bit the cousin in an attempt to get free. The home’s owner said he wanted the wife trespassed. The officer gave the wife a ride to a hotel, where she would not prosecute the cousin. The officer was later advised a no-contact order that restricts the cousin from her wife.
10:12 a.m., A man in charge of maintaining a fence in the 15200 block of Road W reported the fence had been hit by a car the previous night. Six fence posts were damaged and at least three irrigation pipes were broken. The officer concluded that a car from the neighboring property drove off an embankment, crossed a roadway and crashed head-on into the fence before driving off the property and running over irrigation pipes. The man who rents the property the car came from stated his son had been there having a party that night.
3 p.m., A man flagged down an officer in the 1300 block of Central Avenue in Dolores. The man reported he had an interaction with a woman on a dating website in which she offered a sexual service for a fee. The man stated she was near the 1500 block of Central Avenue. He did not know her identity.
8:31 a.m., A wanted woman was reported at 28260 U.S. Highway 160. After the woman’s mother allowed officers into the home, the woman tried to distance herself from the officers by pressing her body into a corner and asking to see the warrant. One officer grabbed an arm, and a second officer grabbed her other arm so they could handcuff her. She was taken to the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., and booked on the warrant.
6:57 a.m., A man in the 15600 block of U.S. Highway 491 who had been in a car accident had blood on his hands and nose. He said he asked his parents to come help, but that his father punched him in the face after learning what had happened. The deputy handed over the man to talk to State Patrol. His mother told the officer her husband fought their son to protect her because the man was being disrespectful. The father stated he had pushed the man with a knee and grabbed his arm and that the man hit him in the face. The father said he hit the man after being hit. The father was cited on suspicion of third-degree assault.
7:59 p.m., A woman reported that a former romantic interest approached her daughter’s boyfriend at work at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St. The man flipped the boyfriend off, indicated he wanted to fight and cussed at him. The woman believes her daughter’s boyfriend was being targeted because he witnessed an incident in October.
4:31 p.m., A man reported that his front license plate was stolen during a road trip that included a stop in the lower 100 block of East Mike Wash Road in Towaoc.
10:33 a.m., A man reported that a CDOT plow destroyed a trash can in the 800 block of Railroad Avenue in Dolores.
12:14 p.m., An officer served a warrant to man in custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.
2:19 p.m., An officer served a warrant to a man in custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.
11:51 p.m., A man driving south in the 7000 block of County Road 25 was pulled over on suspicion of running a stop sign and was cited for driving with a revoked license, failing to provide proof of insurance and failing to obey a stop sign.
9:15 a.m., A woman found a packet of ID cards in her car in the 23600 block of Road F.5. The car did not appear to be broken into, and nothing appeared to be missing.
3:05 a.m., A woman’s house in the 10200 block of Road G caught fire after a puppy knocked over an electrical heater.
11:34 a.m., Two men at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., argued over who would take possession of several items left by another inmate. One man attacked the other, and two other men assisted the attacker. The man who was attacked bit the attacker. He secured his cell door, then was taken to a hospital. The three other men were cited on suspicion of third-degree assault.
7 p.m., A driver was stopped in the 21000 block of Road G, arrested on a warrant and cited for violating a protection order that restricts him from possessing or drinking alcohol.
6:44 a.m., A man wanted on arrest warrants was reported to be walking from Mancos to Dolores. In the 37000 block of Colorado Highway 184, an officer spotted a man matching the description and arrested him on warrants.
7:27 p.m., A man in the 32000 block of U.S. Highway 160 was pulled over for driving 77 mph in 65 mph zone. Empty liquor containers were seen in his car, and he failed to perform roadside maneuvers satisfactorily. He was arrested on a warrant and on suspicion of DUI and speeding.
12:04 a.m., A man driving up and down ditches along the road in the 14000 block of Road 22 was stuck in the snow when approached by an officer. The man stated he was off-roading and drank two beers. He refused to perform roadside maneuvers and requested a lawyer. He was cited on suspicion of DUI and careless driving,
11:50 a.m., A small, clear bag of substance believed to be meth was handed over to an officer by a security officer at Ute Mountain Casino, 3 Weeminuche Drive. The bag had been found next to a woman sitting at machine in the casino. The Bureau of Indian Affairs questioned her, and she reportedly admitted the bag contained meth. The woman was given a trespass order and was released by BIA before an officer from the Sheriff’s Office arrived. A warrant is being sought for her arrest on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance.
11:38 a.m., An employee at the Dolores Speedway, 501 Railroad Ave., requested a welfare check on a woman who had bought $800 of gift cards. She stated she had been locked out of her Amazon account on Dec. 25 and was advised to call an Amazon number. A person on the phone persuaded her to provide the gifts in order to restore her account. The officer called the same number but only heard laughter before the person hung up the phone. This incident is believed to be fraud by wire.
