Hesperus Ski Area announced Saturday that its tubing lanes were open on Marmot Hill from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Sunday, New Year’s Day.

The Marmot Hill tubing area, located on the east side of the lower mountain, will then be open Thursday through Sunday as the 2023 season progresses. Lifts for skiing could open as early as this week, Hesperus said in a news release.

A winter storm warning remains in effect in the Hesperus area until 6 p.m. Monday. The National Weather Service on Saturday forecast total snow accumulations of 1 to 2 in the southwest San Juan Mountains including Hesperus, with up to 3 feet possible at higher elevations. Wind gusts could reach 40 mph.
