The Annual Luminaria Stargaze is a 3 hour stargazing event

The San Juan College Planetarium will present AstroSaturday: Luminaria Stargaze on Saturday, Dec. 3, from 6:30-9:30 p.m.

Since the date coincides with luminaria lighting for the campus, we will offer a three-hour stargaze, with all lights off on the campus. This will take place between the planetarium and the Connie Gotsch Theater.

This year will include many solar system objects to view. There will be a bright, waxing gibbous moon in the sky. Early in the stargaze, we will be able to view the planets Saturn, Jupiter and Mars with only four nights before opposition.

Parking is available in the lots on campus available to walkers for the luminaria event. If it is cloudy, rainy, or snowy, the stargaze will be canceled.
