Thursday, June 30

7:51 a.m. A woman was cited for failing to yield to the right of way at a stop sign after she crashed her car into another at the intersection of Fourth and Harrison streets.

9:04 a.m. A man reported at the Cortez Police Department, 608 N. Park St., that he lost his wallet. There were no leads.

10:27 a.m. A man was cited for careless driving after he drove his car into the back of a woman’s car in the 400 block of East Main Street.

10:28 a.m. A woman was cited for unsafe backing after she backed her car into anther in the 500 block of South Madison Street.

12:02 p.m. A woman reported that a man was violating a protection order by contacting her in the 200 block of North Pinon Drive. An officer attempted to contact the man.

12:37 p.m. A man was taken into custody on a warrant in the 100 block of North Ash Street.

1:06 p.m. A man was cited for trespassing at Cortez Family Dentistry, 115 N. Beech St.

Friday, July 1

2:13 a.m. A man was arrested after reportedly breaking a window and threatening people at National 9 Inn, 301 W. Main St.

10:23 a.m. A couple reported a hit-and-run that occurred at Empire Electric, 801 N. Broadway. An officer was attempting to contact the suspected driver.

11:24 a.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after he was pulled over in the 1800 block of East Main Street.

2 p.m. A woman was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after she drove off the road and high-centered in the 500 block of South Cedar Street. She was cited for careless and drunken driving and failing to provide proof of insurance.

10:08 p.m. Surveillance footage showed a man and a woman shoplifting at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St. A loss prevention officer was looking out for the suspects to return.

Saturday, July 2

2:15 p.m. An intoxicated man was cited for littering and having marijuana on city property after an officer saw him sleeping at Veteran’s Park, 830 E. Main St.

7:24 p.m. A man reported that his sliding glass door was smashed in the 1000 block of East Second Street. There were no leads.

10:32 p.m. Someone reported that vulgar music was being played over the stadium intercom system at Cortez Middle School, 450 W. Second St.

Sunday, July 3

11:08 a.m. An intoxicated man was arrested and cited for trespassing and having alcohol in the park after he was reported for sleeping on the playground at Veteran’s Park, 830 E. Main St.

1:28 p.m. A man’s truck rolled into another man’s car while both men were inside Hibbett Sports, 215 S. Sligo St. No citations were issued.

Monday, July 4

6:13 a.m. Someone reported that Cortez Cab, 108 S. Chestnut St., was vandalized with graffiti. There were no leads or suspects.

3:48 p.m. A man was arrested and cited for drunken driving and driving without a license after he was pulled over in the 400 block of North Park Street.

9:44 p.m. A man was arrested and cited for drunken driving, careless driving and failing to provide proof of insurance after an officer observed his car dragging a traffic cone with a flat tire in the 800 block of East Montezuma Avenue.

Tuesday, July 5

2:20 a.m. An intoxicated man was taken into custody for violating a protection order banning him from drinking after he was reportedly in a fight with his cousin in the 200 block of West Seventh Street.

10:23 a.m. A man was cited for unsafe backing after he backed his car into another in the 200 block of West Main Street.

1:25 p.m. A woman was cited for unsafe backing after she backed her car into another in the 1200 block of East Main Street.

Wednesday, July 6

12:59 p.m. Three people were served warrants at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.
