The biggest topic of conversation these days in all communities along the rivers of Southwest Colorado is the possibility of flooding as the greater than normal snowpack melts. Whether or not there will be flooding depends on the weather since there is a large amount of snow in the lower elevations remaining. Should the days, and nights, be too warm it could cause the lower snow to melt off and be joined by runoff from higher elevations as well which would without a doubt in anyone's mind cause flooding in many places.

Five years of uncompensated service to the nation by Frank Gonzales as a member of the Selective Service System has been recognized with a large certificate that was presented this week. The certificate was signed by president Ford, Governor Lamm, National Selective Service Director Byron Pepitone and State Director F. W. Obitz.

Dedication services will be held at Friendship Community church in Dolores Sunday, May 4 at 2 p.m. The church is celebrating their fourth anniversary. Rev. Charles Hefton from Collbran will speak at the morning services which will be followed by a potluck dinner at noon.

Preparations have begun for the second hydrofracture test to stimulate natural gas production near Meeker. Tentative date for the test is April 28.

Over 50 persons appeared last Thursday for the school board meeting where a lengthy agenda kept the board busy till near midnight. Various reports were heard and George Armstrong was retained as the district's attorney.

On April 22, 1975 it was reported to Chief Marshal Charlie Aragon thefts from four vehicles. Lost was a camera, value $135, belonging to Ron Aschoff, Rio Grande Southern Hostel, Dolores. Paul Cummins and Robin Sue Citrin from Fish Creek area lost all their groceries together with some packages, also a $100 money order that they planned to send off. Marshal Aragon arrested a juvenile for the four car thefts and charges are being filed by District Attorney George Buck.

Dolores is one of eleven more Colorado communities that have been designated as Centennial-Bicentennial communities by the American Revolution Bicentennial Administration.

Dorothy Roth is now home, after being a patient in a Denver Hospital for several days.

Mary Jane McRae entertained with a pinochle party last Saturday evening.

Brent McClain, son of Mr. and Mrs. Corky McClain, entertained a large number of guests at a birthday party in his honor on Monday afternoon.

Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Carrigan and family were among those enjoying the musical at the Dolores School on Saturday evening.

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hamilton returned home on Thursday last week after vacationing in Missouri for 10 days. They helped Harold's mother, Mrs. Florence Hamilton of Eldorado Springs, celebrate her 95th birthday.

Mr. and Mrs. Art Neilson left Monday and returned home Wednesday night after spending a few days in Phoenix visiting with friends.

Mrs. Lillian Simmons Entertained the Thursday bridge club last week.
