3:47 p.m. A woman reported that her brother had fraudulent charges on his electronic benefit transfer card in the 600 block of North Park Street. A card statement showed a total of eight fraudulent charges amounting to $1,250.88 made somewhere in Georgia. The deputy stated he would contact the Social Services Department to determine the location of the charges so that he could contact the area’s local law enforcement.
2:38 p.m. A car crash occurred in the 27100 block of Colorado Highway 145 after a man failed to stop as the driver in front of him slowed to make a right turn. Both drivers’ description of the accident matched.
5:28 p.m. A man reportedly rolled his vehicle off the road in the 27000 block of Forest Road 526 after an animal crossed in front of him on an icy turn. The man was issued summons for careless driving and driving without a license nor proof of insurance.
11:46 a.m. A woman reported that her car was burglarized. She stated that several sentimental items and a two-dollar bill were missing from it. There were no suspects.
3:16 p.m. A deputy assisted a state trooper as he conducted roadside maneuvers for a man suspected to be driving under the influence in the 24000 block of County Road G. The state trooper determined that the man was under the influence of marijuana and took him into custody.
9:46 a.m. Two horses were reportedly tied to a fence among some parked vehicles in the 18300 block of County Road 27. One horse had wrapped itself around a car and was unable to move freely. A deputy determined that neither horse had access to fresh water. He told the owners that if the horse’s condition did not approve upon his return, that they would face animal cruelty charges.
5:31 p.m. A man was issued a summons after he allegedly made five false reports regarding his female roommate in the 14500 of County Road 29. The man reported that the woman was going to drink and drive with a child, that she had vandalized and stolen from their house, and that she had stolen $1800 in cash from him. The deputy determined all reports to be unfounded.
10:06 p.m. After someone reported a disturbance from the Montezuma Mexican Restaurant in the 1200 block of Central Avenue in Dolores, a man told a deputy that he punched in a car window while arguing with his girlfriend. The deputy was unable to contact the woman involved. The man was taken into custody and issued a summons for domestic violence and criminal mischief.
7:24 a.m. A sergeant euthanized a deer in the 30000 block of Colorado Highway 184 that had apparently broken its back and legs after being hit by a vehicle.
11:24 a.m. A woman reported that her neighbor’s black Labrador retriever attacked her dogs. A deputy tried to contact the aggressive dog’s owner, who had previously been issued a summons for aggressive, but was unable to do so. The deputy stated that he would issue another summons after he could contact the owner.
4:52 p.m. A woman turned herself in and was booked into the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., on her outstanding warrant.
4:56 p.m. A couple reported that someone had written “AKA RAT” on their car in lipstick. The man suspected that it was someone he had targeted for distributing marijuana while working with a narcotics task force. The woman suspected that it was the newly freed man who killed her sister while drunk driving. There was no direct evidence to support either suspicion. There were no further leads.
12:28 p.m. A man was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.
7:00 p.m. A man was taken into custody at the Montezuma County Detention Center at 730 E. Driscoll St. after he turned himself for driving under the influence, failing to yield, failing to signal, and driving with an expired license.
1:09 a.m. A woman was taken into custody on two failure to appear warrants in the 11000 block of Road 20 after she was found leaving the area of an unfounded report of a disturbance.
