Blue Jays sell old jerseys to raise cash

To stay sharp during the offseason, the Mancos football team lifts weights four days a week.

They recently took part in 7-on-7 scrimmages in Cortez to further hone their skills.

But during Mancos Days last weekend, the team was focused on preparing for a different aspect of the upcoming season: finances.

Coach Bill Parsons and volunteering players sat under a tent at Boyle Park selling team t-shirts and old jerseys they no longer needed after getting new jerseys last year.

Over the course of the festival, the team sold 30 jerseys and raised over $300.

The money raised will go towards new equipment and travel costs, which can be weighty during away games that require significant travel.
