The FBI seeks the public’s help in finding a suspect in two recent bank robberies in Albuquerque.
First Financial Credit Union, 831 Juan Tabo Blvd., was robbed at 4:36 p.m. Sept. 1, said FBI spokesman Frank Fisher.
The suspect is also wanted in connection with a robbery at First Convenience Bank, 2266 Wyoming Blvd. NE, on Aug. 24.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic or Black male in his 30s to 40s. He was 5 feet, 10 inches tall, weighed 180 to 190 pounds and had brown hair.
“He wore a red baseball cap with a blue front; a white T-shirt over a blue long-sleeve shirt; blue jeans; a blue, wrap-around mask; and white shoes,” the news release said.
At First Financial Credit Union, the suspect lifted his shirt to show the teller a gun in his waistband and demanded money, the release said. He collected an “undisclosed amount of money” and headed north on Juan Tabo Boulevard on foot.
Anyone with information about the robberies is asked to call the FBI at (505) 889-1300 or Albuquerque Metro Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at (505) 843-STOP.
Bank robbery carries a possible prison term of up to 20 years, the release said.
“The use of a gun, other dangerous weapon, toy gun or hoax bomb device during the commission of a bank robbery can be punishable by a prison term of up to 25 years,” the release said.
Authorities said this was a different man than the man who robbed seven banks in a month in New Mexico. That man is still at large, and the reward amount for information leading to his arrest is $5,000.
