Town Board members plan to sign water documents

$1.16 million project adds critical infrastructure

The Mancos Town Board is expected to meet tonight, Nov. 5, at 7 p.m. for a special board meeting.

Although the agenda is short - two items - the documents are long, and board members have their work cut out for them. The board is expected to approve the documents - 78 pages total - related to the water system project.

The first document is the USDA Bond Ordinance, and the second is the contract for the project.

The $1.165 million project will see a new pump house built, a new 430,000-gallon water storage tank and new water piping. The project is expected to be awarded to Redpoint Contracting. The project will be paid in part with a $491,000 loan from the U.S. Department of Agricultural Rural Development and a $455,000 grant from the Energy and Mineral Impact Assistance Fund. The remaining $219,407 will be paid by the town of Mancos, $157,000 of which will be paid by a private developer, according to the documents board members are expected to sign tonight.

After the special board meeting, Mancos Town Board members will reconvene and enter into a budget workshop, which must be approved in its final version by Dec. 10, said Mancos Town Administrator Andrea Phillips.
