Mancos Public Library presents a screening of "MAKERS: Women in Comedy" at 6 p.m. Appetizers from the Millwood Junction Restaurant. A discussion will follow. "Women in Comedy" is one of six episodes in the "MAKERS Series" that profiles the impact of women in the past 50 years.

The 4th Annual Pretty in Pink Fashion Show by Love on a Hanger, 7 p.m. at Four Seasons Greenhouse and Nursery. Desserts, cash bar and silent auction, supporting the Women's Cancer Coalition. Saturday, Oct. 18

Michael Martin Murphey, the "singing cowboy poet" will perform at 7 p.m. at the Cortez Elks Lodge to benefit Hospice of Montezuma. General admission tickets cost $35. Seating is limited, doors open at 6 p.m. Call 565-4400 for tickets.

Down Memory Lane presented by Christian Women's Celebrations. This is a love story told in words and song featuring The Southwest Singers directed by Ruth Wilson Francisco. Low-cost dog and cat vaccination clinic, 9 a.m. to noon at the IFA Country Store, 10501 Highway 491 in Cortez. Hosted by For Pets' Sake Humane Society. Sunday, Oct. 19

A spaghetti benefit dinner for Ken Degener, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the America Legion, 320 North Harrison Street. Degener suffered a heart attack last spring, his share of the medical bills have totaled thousands of dollars. The community band, of which he is a member, and his co-workers from The Pinion Project, are putting on a benefit for him. The Moetones and The Lindells will play, a silent auction will be available and a cash bar. The cost for the spaghetti dinner is $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12. Information: 759-5966.

Tuesday, Oct. 21

Clint Simmons, of Rocky Mountain Bounty Hunters, and write-in sheriff's candidate Mike Steele will be at Blondies Trophy Room, 45 E. Main St., Cortez, at 5 p.m. to answer questions.

The annual meeting of RENEW, Inc. Board of Directors will be held at noon at the Cortez Police Department, 608 N. Park Ave. RENEW is an organization dedicated to helping victims of domestic violence and manages the local safe house. The Mancos Public Library to presents the film, "GMO OMG" at 6 p.m. A community discussion will follow the film and information ?about the Mancos Seed Library, Right to Know Colorado, and Prop 105?, will be available. Snacks from Zuma Natural Foods will be provided.

Friday, Oct. 24

Cortez FFA & FCCLA hosts a food drive to benefit the Good Samaritan Center food bank on at 7 p.m. at Panther Field. Bring canned goods to the M-CHS football game and get up to a $2 discount to the game.

Saturday, Oct. 25

Halloween Parade on the Plaza at the Cortez Cultural Center. 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Costume Contest followed by a Pumpkin Festival with games and fun.

For Pets Sake Humane Society Halloween Bake Sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at City Market's north entrance. Baked goods can be dropped off that morning beginning at 9:30 or Friday, Oct. 24 at Let It Grow Nursery from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Contact Janet at 970-394-4164, for more information.

Annual Pumpkin Festival and costume contest to be held at the Cortez Cultural Center. Registration for the costume contest begins at 12:30, judging starts promptly at 1 p.m. A trick or treat parade and pumpkin festival will start at the conclusion of the costume contest on the patio behind Stonefish Sushi. The Dolores Rotary Club will sponsor a bingo night at the Dolores Community Center. Bingo night kicks-off with a light supper, for a $5 donation, starting at 6:30 p.m. followed by Bingo at 7 p.m. Tuesday night's proceeds will help fund Dolores High School's chapter of the National Honor Society.
