You’re in good hands at SW Memorial

Editor:

The people in the Cortez area are very fortunate to have a really good hospital to care for their medical needs.

I was recently admitted to the emergency room on a Sunday evening. I was thinking that Sunday is not the best time to check into any hospital when most of the staff is home for the weekend. I could not have been more wrong.

Everyone I came in contact with was very professional, friendly and polite. I was quickly admitted, then turned over to a great nurse and in turn checked by two physicians who diagnosed my condition and eased my pain.

On Monday, my confidence was boosted by a visit from Dr. Matteson, the surgeon who examined me and confirmed the previous diagnosis. He patiently explained in detail the surgery I would undergo the next day.

In my 79 years, I have been in many hospitals both as a patient and as a visitor. Believe me when I say you are in good hands at Southwest Memorial. The whole place is immaculately clean. Everyone who comes near you is wearing fresh rubber gloves and using hand-sanitizer fluid.

My last impression and best of all was the surgery team. It was like watching a well-oiled precision machine; click, click, click, no wasted motion, no time lost. I woke up in recovery with no hangover from the anesthesia and then Dr. Matteson was there to tell me that it went well.

A well-earned “thank you” to everyone at Southwest Memorial and to Dr. Matteson.
