Community Foundation infuses $1.82 million into Southwest Colorado’s nonprofits

In 2019, the Community Foundation serving Southwest Colorado infused $1.82 million into the region’s nonprofits.

The grants are broken down as follows:

$1,270,191 was donated from Community Foundation Fund Holders.$457,330 was donated from Friends of the Foundation to Community Foundation Fiscal Sponsorships and other projects.$58,500 was granted through Scholarship Funds for educational purposes.$35,032 was donated through the Community Foundation’s grant opportunities, such as our summer concerts in Durango and Pagosa Springs and Primus Restaurant’s Philanthropy Program.The Community Foundation serving Southwest Colorado manages more than $6.5 million in investments and is home to more than 60 donor advised funds, organizational funds, designated funds, scholarship funds, fiscal sponsorship funds and field of interest funds.

Grants were disbursed across numerous sectors in all five counties of Southwest Colorado and beyond. The top three sectors that received funding were education, human services and arts and culture.

In addition to the giving described above, the Community Foundation acts as an independent grant manager for other entities in the region, such as the Ballantine Family Fund and the Payroll Department’s corporate grant program, Meet your Match.

The Community Foundation serves Archuleta, Dolores, La Plata, Montezuma and San Juan counties.
