The Mancos Valley Distillery will present an intimate evening with Dave Duncan on June 14.
Duncan is one of a handful of songwriters who has success in multiple genres. After moving to Nashville from Tucson in 1993, he wrote songs that appeared on two country gold records: "1-800 Use To Be" (Lorrie Morgan) and "You Know How Women Are" (Buddy Jewell).
Duncan has also found success with his blues songs, in particular being nominated for 2009 Blues Song of The Year for the classic "20 Years of BB King,"a song he wrote for the award-winning soul singer, Curtis Salgado. Salgado's "Soul Shot" CD immediately topped the blues and soul charts in 2012, powered by three Duncan/Salgado originals" "Love Comfort Zone," "She Didn't Cut Me Loose," and the gospel-tinged "A Woman or The Blues."
As a sideman , Dave Duncan has played electric guitar with the likes of cowboy singer Johnny Western, blues legend Homesick James, and jam band favorites Goosecreek Symphony, among many others.
Duncan's most recent CD is "I'm Not Made of Stone." All 11 songs on the recording are Duncan originals, and the CD features musical guests including Delbert McClinton, Jack Pearson (Allman Brothers) and Nashville's sweetheart, Jonell Mosser. Duncan is currently recording a solo acoustic blues record, tentatively called "That Water's Cold ... and Deep Too," scheduled for release in early 2013 on 15South Records.
