Rudosky signs letter of intent

Dolores High School senior will play golf for Missouri Western State next year
Jakob Rudosky signed his letter of intent to compete in golf for Western Missouri. Joining him are his dad and coach, Micah, M-CHS Athletic Director Stacey Hall and his mom, Anett.

After years of honing his swing at Conquistador Golf Course, one of Cortez’s top prep golfers is taking his talents to Missouri.

On Nov. 15, Jakob Rudosky became the latest Montezuma-Cortez High School golfer to secure a spot on a college roster, signing a national letter of intent to play golf at Missouri Western State University.

For Rudosky, the commitment followed a brilliant senior season that saw the Dolores High School senior win the West Slope Regional Championship and finish fifth overall in the Colorado 4A State Tournament.

A four time state qualifier, Rudosky enjoyed a great deal of success over his high school career and will look to help Missouri Western State’s golf program continue to grow.

According to Rudosky, his decision to attend Missouri Western State, a Division II school that competes in the Mid American Athletic Association, was based on a variety of factors, including campus size, golf facilities and academic opportunities.

“The campus was nice, the golf course was nice and their coach is a good guy,” said Rudosky. “That’s all that I was really looking for.”

Asked about the factors contributing to his success on the links, Rudosky responded that hard work, family and community have all played a role.

“All the years of hard work, it is definitely worth it now,” said Rudosky. “I’ve been playing ever since I could walk, so now that I’m (signing), it is definitely awesome.”

“(Jakob) has been here on the course growing up,” added M-CHS head golf coach Micah Rudosky. “He has put in a lot of time. He is following in the footsteps of guys that we have had in the past.”

Between now and the start of college next fall, Rudosky will continue perfecting his swing in addition to playing basketball for Dolores High School.

“This will be my last year playing basketball,” said Rudosky. “I’m just going to enjoy it and have some fun.”

Certainly a sold goal for one of the area’s finest prep athletes who, as a result of hard work and dedication, will soon be representing his community at the next level.
