Wednesday, Sept. 16
5:06 a.m. A woman was trespassed from a store in the 800 block of South Broadway. An employee reported two women were attempting to shoplift and left the store when confronted. One woman could not be located. A bike that was possibly stolen was taken into custody.
2:23 p.m. A woman was arrested on two active warrants at Cortez Police Department, 608 N. Park St. She was there to turn in documents related to a fraud case.
4:18 p.m. A woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI and speeding in the 900 block of S. Oak Street. During the traffic stop, the woman appeared to be intoxicated. Inside the vehicle, several packages of marijuana and an empty container of alcohol were found. She failed to satisfactorily complete roadside maneuvers, and a portable breath test indicated a level above the legal limit.
4:32 p.m. A woman was cited on suspicion of failing to stop at a red light in the 10 block of North Market Street. She crashed into another vehicle after failing to stop.
5:21 p.m. A car crash occurred in the 500 block of East Main Street. A vehicle braked while the light was green, causing multiple cars to also brake suddenly. One vehicle rear-ended another vehicle. He was given a verbal warning, and the drivers exchanged insurance information.
9:30 p.m. A man was arrested on an active warrant in the 700 block of South Broadway. A deputy was on scene for a civil standby between the man and his ex-girlfriend as they divided up their possessions. Dispatch confirmed the warrant.
Thursday, Sept. 17
9:40 a.m. A man riding a bike was issued a verbal warning for failure to yield the right of way in the 1800 block of East Main Street. A male driver turned his vehicle into a parking lot and a bicyclist riding on the sidewalk failed to yield and ran into the vehicle.
11:04 a.m. A man was arrested on a warrant during a traffic stop and cited on suspicion of driving without a valid license and operating an uninsured vehicle in the 1800 block of East Main Avenue.
11:28 a.m. A rock was thrown through the window of a business in the 300 block of West First Street. There were no suspects.
8:27 p.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of a protection order violation, obstructing a peace officer, resisting arrest, criminal mischief and second-degree criminal trespass in the 1500 block of South Broadway. He had already been trespassed from the property and was throwing rocks at vehicles, shattering a windshield.
8:27 p.m. A man was cited on suspicion of careless driving in the 500 block of West Main Street. He turned into a private drive, mistaking it for the drive-thru of Burger King and ran into a sign and large decorative rock.
Friday, Sept. 18
3:12 p.m. A female inmate was served a warrant for protection order violation at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.
8:31 p.m. An officer responded to a possible kidnapping at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St. A woman believed she had seen another woman get pushed into a van by her traveling companions. Video surveillance and interviews indicated there was no kidnapping, but a property disputed between two parties and possible identity theft. Occupants of a second vehicle had taken items from the first vehicle. The incident will be reviewed after the possible identity theft victim contacts the deputy.
10:01 p.m. A man was arrested on active warrants for probation violation and failure to appear during a traffic stop for a broken tail light in the 10 block of North Mildred Road.
Saturday, Sept. 19
3:46 p.m. A woman was cited on suspicion of shoplifting at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St. She was observed putting canceled items in her bag and admitted she did not have money to pay for them.
5:56 p.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of DUI, DUI per se and weaving in the 1000 block of East Empire Street. He failed to satisfactorily complete roadside maneuvers, and a portable breath test indicated a level above the legal limit.
10:57 p.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault in the 100 block of East Main Street. A possible stabbing victim was reported. He had a cut on his hand that was bleeding. When EMS attempted to assist him, he began spitting blood on them. He continued to be combative while being treated at the hospital and booked at the jail.
Sunday, Sept. 20
12:38 a.m. A woman was arrested on an active warrant in the 500 block of South Madison Street. She allegedly had been causing a disturbance.
10:43 a.m. A possible protection order violation was reported in the 1100 block of Jackson Street. A piece of a meat-cutting table that had been loaned to a man was found in his wife’s driveway. He is restrained from contacting his wife or coming within 100 yards of her. The wood had a cross painted on it and appeared to have been shot with a shotgun. The man had lost custody of their son that week and she feared the wood piece was a warning that he intended to retaliate. The husband denied involvement and there was not enough evidence for an arrest. The woman intended to put up a surveillance system.
7:02 p.m. A man was cited on suspicion of shoplifting and was trespassed from the property at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St. He was observed not scanning items inside of tote bags and then leaving the checkout area.
Monday, Sept. 21
10:41 a.m. A woman allegedly rear-ended another vehicle in the 900 block of East Main Street. The woman said she had severe PTSD and was off her medication, so she was transported to the hospital. No citations were issued.
11:10 a.m. A paint sprayer was reported stolen from a job site in the 300 block of South Elm Street. There were no known suspects.
