San Juan College to host Native American Heritage Month events

The Native American Center at San Juan College, in collaboration with All Nations Leadership Association and Ms. Indigenous, will celebrate Native American Heritage Month with a full slate of events throughout November.

Monday: Traditional Dress Day. Wear traditional attire to kick off Native American Heritage Month at the college.

9-11 a.m. Wednesday: Heritage Breakfast, Native American Center.10-11:30 a.m. Friday: Indigenous Zone Training, Center for Professional Exploration and Development, Room 1624.11 a.m.-noon Nov. 14: Powwow Fit Zumba with Danielle Shay Gibbons, Student Sun Lounge.6-8 p.m. Nov. 14: Voice of Navajo Poets, SJC Library.Nov. 15: National Rock Your Mocs Day. Wear moccasins all day. 6-7 p.m. Nov. 19: Cooking for the Heart by the American Heart Association’s Native Initiatives, HHPC Nutrition Lab, Room 55336. 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Nov. 21: Native and Young Votes Matter forum, Student Sun Lounge.11 a.m.-2 p.m. Nov. 21: Anla food sale, Native American Center. 6-8 p.m. Nov. 21: Native Short Films, featuring films by Natives Outdoors: Messengers, Welcome to Gwichyaa Zhee, The Fifty Project: Dzil Ashdliaii, Paha Sapa: A skiers Journey, SJC Little Theater. 1-5 p.m. Nov. 22: Beading Workshop with Shannon Benally, Native American Center. 9 a.m.-noon Nov. 26: Ms. Indigenous SJC coloring activity, SJC West Campus.
