Cory Gardner is green and bipartisan

Congratulations and thanks to Sen. Cory Gardner for introducing more bills with bipartisan cosponsors than any other Republican senator in 2019.

He was ranked No. 2 when compared with all members of the Senate. According to GovTrack, 50 of Gardner’s 62 bills and resolutions had a cosponsor from a different political party.

Some of those bills will help in the fight to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Gardner cosponsored six of the “12 in 20” bipartisan-ready bills selected by Republican leadership to boost energy innovation and efficiency.

We are living through a radically partisan moment in American politics, which I find disheartening and worrisome. It’s not all bad news, though, at least not in our state. Sens. Gardner and Michael Bennet frequently team up to solve problems affecting Colorado. Congressman Scott Tipton has introduced bipartisan legislation on critical issues, such as the Public Lands Renewable Energy Development Act.

Our Western Slope congressional delegation shows, through their legislative actions, that it’s still possible to seek common ground, it’s still possible to put the public good before politics, it’s still possible to lead even in these bitter times.

Congratulations again to Sen. Gardner and heartfelt thanks all our representatives for the difficult work they do.
