Man sentenced to two years in prison for sexual assault of a minor

Incident occurred in McKinley County, on Navajo Nation in New Mexico

FARMINGTON – A 25-year-old man was sentenced this week to two years in prison for sexually abusing a child in Indian Country.

Wilson Davis, a member of the Navajo Nation, pleaded guilty Oct. 22 in federal court. After serving his sentence, he must register as a sex offender, according to a release from the U.S. Department of Justice in New Mexico.

According to the release, Davis admitted to engaging in sexual activity with the victim who he knew was younger than 16 at the time in McKinley County on the Navajo Nation. He was sentenced Tuesday.

The FBI Gallup office, Navajo Police and Navajo Nation Department of Criminal Investigation assisted in the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicholas Marshall prosecuted the case.
