Cortez TOPS retains and installs officers

The 13 TOPS members who attended the installation ceremony with advocate Sue Kimball and 2019 State and International Queen Monica Michaels. They are, in the back row: Vaniece Johnson, Paul Kamminga, Karen Kamminga, Liddie Rose, Robyn Story, Diane Townley, Judy Echols, Sandy Greene, Roger Echols, Monica Michaels, Sue Kimball and Donna Watkins; and in the front row, Lillian Allen and Vera Jean Charlesworth.

Cortez TOPS members have resumed chapter meetings of their nonprofit weight-loss support group.

After staying “safer at home,” members are recommitting to continuing their healthy journeys – and they invite people who’ve struggled with their weight to join them, group leader Judy Echols said in a news release.

Weekly TOPS chapter meetings are held at City Hall, at 123 Roger Smith Ave., at 11 a.m. Friday. Attendees should use the west entrance to the building and wear a mask, Echols said.

The following officers were retained and installed: Judy Echols, leader; Vera Jean Charlesworth, co-leader; Robyn Story, secretary; and Donna Watkins, treasurer. Diane Townley was reappointed weight recorder, and Lillian Allen, assistant recorder.

Visiting officials were Colorado coordinator Janet Rae Laes; TOPS advocates Sue Kimball and Mary Boughton; and 2019 State and International Queen Monica Michaels, who gave an inspiring talk about her 230-pound weight loss.

It was a proud moment for our club when Paul Kamminga received recognition for winning second place in Colorado in his weight division.
