Annual Mancos Melt rescheduled for this weekend

‘Out of this World’ event happening Saturday
The Mancos Melt, which has been rescheduled for Saturday, July 11, features a putt-putt golf tournament around town. In this file photo from 2016’s event, Stephen Sabatta uses his putter like a pool cue to hit the golf ball up a ramp and into a giant cowboy boot.

After being canceled this past March because of the coronavirus pandemic, the Mancos Melt has been rescheduled for Saturday, July 11.

While the event may not be the traditional rite of springtime as in past years, it will still have many of the usual elements, although participants will be asked to mask up.

The theme will be the same as originally intended: “Out of this World.”

The 11th annual Mancos Melt putt-putt golf tournament will kick off at noon at Fenceline Cider and wrap up about 4:30 p.m. at the Mancos Brewing Co., where teams can turn in their scorecards and await the results.

The tournament is for teams of two, at $40 per team, with proceeds going toward the Montelores Early Childhood Council for its back-to-school backpack drive.

Prizes will be awarded for first through fourth places, “Best Golf Hole,” and “Best Dressed.” “Out of this World” attire is encouraged.

After the golf tournament, local rock band “Flashback” will play at the brewery from 5-8 p.m. Outdoor seating will be available.
