The Mancos school board spent some time discussing project-based learning initiatives on Jan. 21.

Next year’s calendar and the new secondary principal search are key agenda items for the Mancos school board tonight.

The 2019-20 calendar talk comes during the work session before the regular meeting, while discussions on the principal search will happen later in the evening at the meeting itself.

The need for a new high school principal comes in the wake of the recent resignation of Adam Priestley, who left the post in November.

The regular meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in Room No. 507 of the West Wing at the district campus just south of Grand Avenue and between Beech and Walnut streets, preceded by a work session at 6 p.m. in the same location.

Other business

Also during the work session, the board may conduct a walk-through of the district’s large-scale construction project, if time permits.Directors will listen to presentations from fourth-grade teachers Staci Greenlee and Rachel Showalter, along with from the Montezuma County School to Farm Project. The board will consider approving the updated substitute list and consider hiring Randy John as assistant high school basketball coach.Directors will also decide whether to buy a Kubota tractor to help with campus snow removal.
