Wednesday, April 3

10:23 a.m.: A man was cited for trespassing at the Cortez Public Library, 202 N. Park St.

3:25 p.m.: A woman was served a warrant at the Montezuma County Detention Center.

5:50 p.m.: A woman was arrested at 24 N. Chestnut St. on a warrant for failure to comply.

9:43 p.m.: A man was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication in the 400 block of S. Ash St. He was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital, then taken to the Montezuma County Detention Center.

11:16 p.m.: A woman was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct in the 500 block of E. Main St.

Thursday, April 4

1:55 a.m.: A woman in the 1500 block of E. Main Street was arrested on suspicion of possessing illegal drugs.

8:36 a.m.: A woman was cited for turning left in front of oncoming traffic after a traffic crash at 2500 E. Main St.

9:49 a.m.: A man was arrested at Montezuma County Combined Courts on an outstanding warrant and taken to Montezuma County Detention Center.

11:33 a.m.: A woman was arrested on an active warrant in the 100 block of N. Madison St.

3:38 p.m.: A man was arrested on a warrant for failure to comply in the 800 block of N. Park St.

6:45 p.m.: A man and a woman were arrested at a motel in the 600 block of Broadway on suspicion of possessing heroin and meth.

10:37 p.m.: A man was arrested for driving with a revoked license after an officer witnessed his vehicle fail to stop at a red light in the 500 block of E. Main St.

Friday, April 5

8:21 p.m.: A man was arrested at Third and Harrison streets on suspicion of first-degree criminal trespass, second-degree aggravated motor vehicle theft, and criminal mischief. The arrest came after the man was found in the vehicle reported to have been just stolen from a delivery driver at the Pizza Hut. The delivery driver had parked her car at the restaurant and left it running and had gone into the restaurant for 10 minutes when it was stolen. The man, who appeared to be passed out, had vomited on himself and the keys were in his lap.

Saturday, April 6

12:05 a.m.: A man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after he was stopped for speeding in the 100 block of E. Main St.

8:19 a.m.: A woman was arrested in the 400 block of S. Chestnut Street for violating a court order not to consume alcoholic after an officer conducted a welfare check on a woman who was lying in the street in the northbound traffic lane. The officer discovered a partially filled bottle of Taaka vodka in the possession of the woman, who could not stand or speak coherently to the officer.

9:51 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 300 block of S. Broadway on suspicion of second-degree felony assault and domestic violence.

10:52 a.m.: A woman was arrested on several outstanding warrants at the Cortez Public Library, 202 N. Park St.

6:47 p.m.: A man was cited citation for unsafe backing after a minor crash in the 200 block of E. Main St.

Sunday, April 7

8:45 p.m.: A woman was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting at Walmart, 1845 E. Main St.

11:19 a.m.: A man was arrested on suspicion of violating a protection order, and two other men were issued summons for possessing alcohol in a park after an officer using a monocular scope witnessed them drinking from a bottle of Taaka Vodka near the Duck Pond in the 500 block of Mildred Road.

5:15 p.m.: A man turned himself in at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., on outstanding warrants. He was arrested on four outstanding warrants including failing to register as a sex offender.

11:01 p.m.: A man was arrested at Walmart on an outstanding warrant and for failure to appear. He also was issued a city summons for shoplifting and trespassing at the store after employees witnessed him drinking a bottle of mouthwash without paying for it. He was taken to Southwest Memorial Hospital for a medical clearance, then transported to Montezuma County Detention Center, where a breath test determined he had 0.217 blood-alcohol content.

Monday, April 8

3:37 p.m.: An inmate at the Montezuma County Detention Center was served a warrant from La Plata County.

9:03 p.m.: A woman hit a deer in the 1500 block of S. Broadway.

Thursday, April 9

3:07 p.m.: A woman in the lobby of the Cortez Police Department reported a hit-and-run. The woman’s car was hit while she was in Bealls on April 8. A surveillance camera from the First National Bank showed her car was hit by a blue GMC pickup, but the license plate was not visible.

3:47 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 200 block of Park Street on three active warrants for arrest. The man was taken to the Montezuma County Detention Center, where he volunteered to take a breath analyzer test that resulted in a reading of a 0.276 blood-alcohol content.
