This year, 11 Montezuma-Cortez High School graduates were awarded the Roland R. Schneider Scholarship.

The scholarship is managed by local nonprofit Onward! A Legacy Foundation. The students will receive scholarships in the amount of $1,000 to $3,000 over the next two years, to go toward their higher education.

“With the combination of three people contributing to the fund and the royalties from Mr. Schneider’s property, the fund has grown over the last 45 years and has allowed the committee to offer larger and renewable scholarships to students,” said Nicci Crowley, Onward! relations director.

The student recipients are: Vincent Conklin, Forest Pejsa, Cordell Baer, Kailey Case, Kale Hall, Aspen Yoder, Taylor Comisky, Marguerite Copeland, Amanda Sturman, David Huffman, and Aryelle Wright.
