A 59-year-old man who suffered multiple head injuries in a motorcycle crash in Durango remained in critical condition Tuesday at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Lakewood.
Brett Perrin of Durango was taken to Mercy Regional Medical Center after losing control of his motorcycle Saturday evening on South Camino del Rio after turning to head north from Dominguez Drive, the intersection into Walmart.
Durango Police Department Sgt. Nick Stasi said a 34-year-old woman who was a passenger on the motorcycle suffered minor injuries and was treated and released at Mercy.
The accident occurred around 5:40 p.m. Saturday.
Stasi said Perrin pulled into the left lane to pass a vehicle. When he returned to the right lane, the traffic in front of him had stopped.
Stasi said Perrin lost control of the motorcycle in an attempt to avoid hitting the vehicle in front of him.
Perrin suffered multiple head injuries and was flown to St. Anthony’s on Saturday night, Stasi said.
Neither Perrin, nor the woman, who was not identified by DPD, were wearing helmets, Stasi said.
Perrin has not yet been cited, but Stasi said the investigation remains open.
