Gun pulled in mask dispute at Wildcat Canyon Liquor Store

No shots fired, no one injured
Durango police officers and La Plata County Sheriff’s deputies interview someone at Wildcat Canyon Liquor store on Saturday after being called there because of a face mask dispute in which someone brandished a gun.

A dispute about someone failing to wear a mask led another person to pull out a gun at Wildcat Canyon Liquor around 1 p.m. Saturday, but no shots were fired and no one was injured.

La Plata County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Steve Reiter said deputies were unable to contact or interview the initial person who called to report the incident.

He said no one was arrested, and the case is considered inactive.

Reiter did not have details about the incident, nor did he have names of the people involved.

The business has a large sign hanging on an exterior wall warning that “COVID 19 is real.”
