A 33-year-old Aztec man was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence and kidnapping after he reportedly dragged a woman by the hair out of a hotel lobby Thursday night in Durango.
The Durango Police Department announced late Friday the man, identified as Terrill Jamil Jaquez, was arrested in Farmington. The woman was also found safe and suffered no serious injury.
“The Durango Police Department would like to thank our community, which is the best crime-fighting partner we could ever hope to have,” the department said in a statement. “Without your help, we may not have identified the suspect and victim so quickly. We also want to thank the San Juan County, N.M., Sheriff’s Office, who assisted in taking Jaquez safely into custody.”
Authorities said that at about 9:47 p.m. Thursday, a disturbance was reported at the Comfort Inn & Suites at 455 South Camino del Rio, in Bodo Industrial Park south of downtown Durango.
It was reported to law enforcement that a woman entered the lobby of the hotel and asked to check into a room. Durango police said in a statement the woman appeared upset and concerned another person would enter the lobby.
