Bureau of Land Management seeks comments on sale of public land

The Bureau of Land Management Farmington Field Office seeks public comment about the conveyance of a 19.5-acre parcel of public land 14 miles north of Aztec to Linn and Treciafaye Blancett.

The BLM was directed in the Carl Levin and Howard P. “Buck” McKeon National Defense Authorization Act of 2015 to convey the parcel.

As part of the conveyance process, the BLM has determined that the parcel would be offered through a noncompetitive direct sale to the Blancetts at not less than the appraised fair market value. The 45-day public comment period ends June 14. The Environmental Assessment is posted online at www.eplanning.blm.gov/eplanning-ui/project/1502058/510.

Members of the public may submit comments by mail to the BLM Farmington Field Office, Attn: Monica Tilden, 6251 College Blvd., Suite A, Farmington, NM 87402, or through the ePlanning website. Reference “Blancett Land Conveyance” in all correspondence. Comments that contain only opinions or preferences will not receive a formal response. The most useful comments are those that contain new technical or scientific information, identify issues relevant to the proposal, identify alternatives or provide technical or scientific rationale for opinions or preferences.

Before including an address, phone number, email address or other personal identifying information in any comments, be aware that the entire comment – including personal identifying information – may be made publicly available at any time. Requests to withhold personal identifying information from public review can be submitted, but the BLM cannot guarantee that it will be able to do so.
