Cortez fire district needs your help
The Cortez Fire Protection District would like to offset the destructive effects of the Gallagher Amendment, which pegs residential mill levies to the statewide ratio of residential and commercial values.
That ratio, driven by commercial development in the large Front Range cities where population growth is concentrated, forces residential mill levies down to unrealistic levels. Reduced revenues make it very difficult for districts to continue to deliver the services their constituents require.
Electors in other districts have seen the wisdom to adjust their mill levies up proportionally, and Cortez Fire should be able to do the same.
We vote Yes on issue 6A.
