Newly formed committee holds workshop to discuss possibilities for playground
The Dolores playground committee meets for a workshop session on Feb. 27.

The newly formed Dolores Parks Committee met for a work session on Tuesday evening to discuss planning for a new playground.

According to committee member Mike Riley, the work session is held in addition to regular meetings so the committee can hear from the town.

“We want to be your sounding board so that with the information and ideas we gather from you, we can put together a cohesive recommendation to the town board,” Riley said.

Community members in attendance suggested more shade than the previous park, more traditional features and a quick turnaround.

The committee and community members also discussed the possibility and problems that may arise from a community build.

“I do not think we should discount a community build, I just think we have to be mindful,” said committee member Tracy Murphy.

The committee decided to draft a community survey to be finalized at its March 7 meeting at the Dolores Community Center. The committee will seek the Dolores Town Board’s approval on the survey at the board’s meeting on March 12.The committee will hold its next workshop at the Dolores Public Library on March 28.
