Please stop telling us about Durango

I live in Dolores, Colorado, not Durango. The Cortez Journal covers more news relevant to Durango than to the Cortez/Dolores area.

You covered that the Durango Purgatory ski resort got 10th place in a Condé Nast survey and barely mentioned, at the bottom of the article, that the Telluride ski resort got the coveted second place in the same survey. Dolores and Cortez are just as close or closer to Telluride than Purgatory. Why not mention both in the article headline?

Also, recently, The Cortez Journal had an article on carvings on aspen trees near Durango. I’d be happy to show you old beautiful carvings on aspen trees on hiking trails in the Dolores-Cortez area. Then again, maybe they need to remain a secret for preservation.

There are many interesting things going on in the Cortez-Dolores area that deserve your attention. If you want to keep your Cortez-Dolores subscribers to The Cortez Journal, please give more attention and report on things going on in the Cortez-Dolores area rather than just focusing on Durango.

If we wanted to live in and read about Durango, we’d live in Durango.

We don’t.
