5:40 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a suicide threat in the county. Medical personnel were called to an apartment after a woman said she had taken some pills that day. She was transported to Southwest Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Monday, Jan. 22
12:38 p.m.: A man was remanded to custody from Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St.
Tuesday, Jan. 23
11:57 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report that a man had run in front of traffic and was attempting to kill himself. He was transported to Southwest Memorial Hospital for treatment, and during the trip he reportedly threatened to kill both himself and the responding deputies. He reportedly showed signs of being under the influence of heroin and meth, and was transported to Detox of La Plata County in Durango.
Thursday, Jan. 25
12:01 p.m.: A man was arrested at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., on a Grand Junction warrant for failure to comply.
3:13 p.m.: Deputies responded to a suicide threat in the Cortez area. A man reportedly had locked himself in a barn after threatening to shoot himself. A deputy talked him out of the barn, and he was transported to Southwest Memorial Hospital.
Friday, Jan. 26
3:41 a.m.: A man was issued a summons in the 400 block of U.S. Highway 160 on suspicion of driving without a valid license, driving without insurance and displaying fictitious license plates after he was pulled over for weaving. The man reportedly had no identification except for a passport, which was wrapped in a large amount of tinfoil along with a cell phone. He reportedly told responding deputies he was a diplomat and had signed paperwork from John Kerry.
12:59 p.m.: A man was served with a warrant for failure to appear at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.
11:46 p.m.: A man was issued a summons on suspicion of speeding near the intersection of Fourth Street and Railroad Avenue in Dolores.
11:54 p.m.: A woman was issued a summons on suspicion of driving under restraint in the 2000 block of U.S. Highway 160 after she was pulled over for driving without license plate lamps.
Saturday, Jan. 27
6:11 p.m.: A man and a woman were arrested on warrants in the 27000 block of U.S. Highway 160. The man reportedly fled from deputies, and Cortez police and Mancos marshals were called in to help in the pursuit. Cortez police officers reportedly caught the man near Cortez Cemetery after a K-9 bit him. He was transported to Southwest Memorial Hospital for treatment of the bite, but while he was waiting in a patrol car for the ambulance, he reportedly banged his head against the window several times and violently resisted medics’ attempts to examine him. Deputies eventually dragged him out of the patrol car and into the ambulance.
7:01 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a disturbance in the 27000 block of County Road T.5. A man claimed his ex-girlfriend’s son had threatened him with a pocket knife, and he had pushed the son to the ground. The ex-girlfriend claimed the man had elbowed her in the chest and pushed her son down, after which he had threatened to stab the man. No injuries were reported, and deputies found no probable cause to arrest anyone, even though a witness had recorded audio of the incident. They advised all parties on how to obtain civil protection orders.
Sunday, Jan. 28
9:32 a.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a stolen vehicle last seen in the 300 block of North Chestnut Street, Cortez. The vehicle had reportedly gone missing after its owner left it running to warm up the engine. Deputies found a vehicle matching the description in the 100 block of North Seventh Street, Dolores, and followed it until it stopped at a gas station. A deputy reportedly saw two men exit the vehicle, then approached it with his gun drawn and requested backup. Law enforcement did not find the suspects, even after deploying a K-9. The vehicle’s New Mexico license plates had been replaced with Colorado ones, and several containers of marijuana were found inside it.
Monday, Jan. 29
5:21 p.m.: A man was arrested at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., on a warrant for failure to comply on a misdemeanor charge.
Tuesday, Jan. 30
3:34 p.m.: A man was served with two warrants for failure to comply at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.
5:59 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of an abandoned vehicle blocking traffic in the 31000 block of County Road L. The vehicle reportedly had New Mexico license plates and was parked in the eastbound lane with a flat tire. Responding deputies had the vehicle towed away.
