A 39-year-old Texas man was killed in a crash involving two pickups near the scenic overlook on Wolf Creek Pass about 4 p.m. Thursday.
Trooper Gary Cutler, a spokesman with the Colorado State Patrol, said he had no other details about the crash, which closed U.S. Highway 160 for several hours.
Highway 160 reopened around 7:20 p.m., said Lisa Schwantes, spokeswoman for the Colorado Department of Transportation. Schwantes said snow was falling Thursday night on Wolf Creek.
CDOT cameras showed snowy and icy conditions on the pass at 7:50 p.m. Thursday. Chains or alternative-traction devices were required for all commercial vehicles.
Cutler said he did not know if weather played a role in the fatal crash. He said he did not know how many people were in the pickups, but he said both trucks were from Texas.
Cutler did not have the name or the hometown of the man who was killed.
