Saturday, June 16

5:32 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 200 block of West Montezuma Avenue on suspicion of driving under restraint after he allegedly tried to hit a woman with his vehicle. The woman, a passenger in the vehicle, said the man drove toward her during an argument but did not hit her. The man said he was taking the woman to the hospital to get a urinalysis for legal reasons.

8:21 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 6000 block of County Road 24 on a warrant for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge and on suspicion of DUI, DUI per se and leaving the scene of an accident after an alleged hit-and-run causing up to $8,000 damage to a parked vehicle on East Montezuma Avenue. A vehicle matching witnesses’ descriptions was found in a ditch with an open case of beer in the back seat. Aided by a witness and a K9, officers found the suspect in another ditch.

11:27 p.m.: A man was arrested at McDonald’s, 132 E. Main St., on suspicion of violating bond conditions after employees reported he was intoxicated and refused to leave. A bottle of cooking sherry was found in his pocket. He was medically cleared for intoxication.

Saturday, June 16

12:50 a.m.: A man was arrested outside City Market, 508 E. Main St., on suspicion of second-degree assault and disorderly conduct after allegedly hitting a vehicle and screaming threats at its occupant. He reportedly spit at officers, who put a spit mask over his head. He reportedly kicked an officer in the shin and kicked at the patrol car window while being transported. He was medically cleared due to alcohol and suspected meth use.

2:46 p.m.: A man was arrested in Centennial Park, 800 E. Montezuma Ave., on a warrant for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge. He was medically cleared due to intoxication.

4 p.m.: A man was arrested at Holiday Inn, 2121 E. Main St., on suspicion of trespassing and violating bond conditions after employees reported he was intoxicated and refused to leave. Two bottles of vanilla extract were found in his possession. He was medically cleared due to intoxication.

6:14 p.m.: A man was arrested in City Park, 802 E. Main St., on suspicion of third-degree assault after witnesses reported he had knocked down and kicked a man in the face. The other man was treated at Southwest Memorial Hospital for facial injuries and a dislodged tooth. The suspect claimed four men “jumped” him and kicked him in the ribs. He was medically cleared for intoxication and a bruise on his side.

10:27 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 1000 block of East Montezuma Avenue on suspicion of DUI and prohibited use of a weapon after being pulled over for ignoring a stop sign. He reportedly resisted officers, and they pushed him to the ground to cuff him. Three firearms, one of which was reported stolen, were found in his vehicle. He was medically cleared for intoxication. He reportedly said that he also had used meth, heroin, marijuana and alcohol, and that he had meth and heroin in his car. Police requested a warrant to search the car.

10:50 p.m.: A man was cited on suspicion of shoplifting, trespassing and violating bond conditions at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., after an officer reportedly saw him steal two pairs of women’s underwear, valued at $15.50 total.

Sunday, June 17

11:54 a.m.: Two men were arrested at Mesa Verde Inn, 640 S. Broadway, after one reportedly threatened a guest and said he had a gun. Officers entered the room with guns drawn, but did not find firearms. The man reportedly had a meth pipe in his hand and two knives in his pockets. The other man said he had threatened him with the knives and “holding him hostage.” A bag of meth was found in the second man’s pocket. A container of marijuana and meth paraphernalia were also found. The first man was arrested on a felony warrant, and the second was arrested on drug charges. The first man reportedly resisted arrest, and an officer kicked him. He was medically cleared for intoxication.

11:54 a.m.: A woman was arrested at Sonic, 436 S. Broadway, on a warrant for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge.

4:32 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 700 block of South Broadway on two warrants for failure to appear and failure to comply on misdemeanor charges.

5:56 p.m.: A man was arrested in City Park, 802 E. Main St., on suspicion of being intoxicated in the roadway, disturbing the peace, and possessing alcohol in the park after he reportedly stopped vehicles in the road and flipped them off. He reportedly told police he wanted someone to run him over. A nearly empty bottle of vodka was found in his possession. He was medically cleared for intoxication.

11:26 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 300 block of East Seventh Street on two Arapahoe County misdemeanor warrants and on suspicion of driving under restraint and driving with defective headlights.

Monday, June 18

4:50 p.m.: A woman was arrested at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., on a warrant for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge.

10:42 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 800 block of North Edith Street on a local felony warrant.

Tuesday, June 19

1:20 a.m.: A man was arrested outside the Methodist Thrift Store, 444 E. Main St., on two warrants for failure to appear after police responded to a report that he and another man were sleeping on the property.

Wednesday, June 20

8:17 a.m.: Police responded to a report of theft in the 100 block of North Market Street. A man reported a set of knives, valued at $1,700, had gone missing from his locked truck the previous night. The case remains under investigation.

3:38 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 1000 block of East Main Street on two warrants for failure to appear on misdemeanor charges after being pulled over for driving with a broken taillight.

Thursday, June 21

12:23 a.m.: A woman was arrested outside Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., on two warrants for failure to appear on misdemeanor charges.

12:38 p.m.: A man turned himself in at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., and was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge.

1:27 p.m.: A man was arrested at the Cortez Police headquarters, 608 N. Park St., on a local felony warrant after registering as a sex offender.

3:19 p.m.: A man was arrested at Shiloh’s Steakhouse, 5 S. Veach St., on a warrant for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge. At the jail, the officer also served two warrants to a male inmate.

4:17 p.m.: A woman was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St.

6:10 p.m.: Police responded to a report of a hit-and-run in the 40 block of South Washington Street. A woman reported the rear bumper of her vehicle had been damaged between 1 and 5 p.m. the previous day. The case remains under investigation.

8:51 p.m.: Police responded to Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., where employees reported a woman had stolen two packs of batteries and three battery chargers, worth $76.79 total, by concealing them in a purse. When an employee approached her, she reportedly screamed and ran, got into a silver sedan and left the scene. Police requested an arrest warrant.

9:24 p.m.: A man was cited in the 1100 block of East Main Street on suspicion of DUI, DUI per se and speeding after he was pulled over for reportedly driving 50 mph in a 35 mph zone.

Friday, June 22

3:04 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 300 block of South Broadway on suspicion of DUI and driving under restraint after he reportedly knocked over a pedestrian sign in the center median. He was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to intoxication.

9:36 a.m.: A man was arrested at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., on a warrant for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge.

4:09 p.m.: A woman was cited in City Park, 802 E. Main St., on suspicion of possessing alcohol in the park.

9:44 p.m.: Two men were arrested in the 1900 block of East Main Street after their vehicle was pulled over for apparently racing another vehicle at speeds of 50 mph in a 35 mph zone. A K9 alerted officers to potential drugs inside the men’s vehicle, and a search turned up two bags of meth. A hypodermic needle, a smaller bag of meth and a vial containing a clear liquid were found in the passenger’s pockets. Both men were arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance, and the driver was arrested on suspicion of engaging in a speed contest.

10:57 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 400 block of West Seventh Street on suspicion of a protection order violation after being pulled over for defective brake lights. The protected party was reportedly a passenger. The man also reportedly said he didn’t have a driver’s license. They gave him a warning for the traffic violations.

Saturday, June 23

1:12 a.m.: A man was cited in the 300 block of West Coronado Avenue on suspicion of DUI, DUI per se and failing to use a turn signal. He reportedly said he had been drinking at Angel’s End Zone.

12:40 p.m.: Police responded to a two-vehicle crash in the 700 block of South Broadway. While backing out of a driveway, one driver collided with the rear axles of a trailer being pulled by another vehicle. The first driver was cited for failure to yield.

5:55 p.m.: A woman was arrested outside City Market, 508 E. Main St., on a warrant for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge.

6:56 p.m.: A man was cited in the 20 block of West Main Street on suspicion of careless driving and failing to report an accident after a man reported his vehicle was damaged while it was parked on the street. The suspect left a note with his contact information. When police contacted him, he reportedly said he hit the car while pulling into a parking spot in front of it, and didn’t call police because it was “an insurance issue.”

10:33 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 600 block of South Washington Street on suspicion of trespassing and interfering with an officer after a woman reported he was trying to steal a bike from her yard. When officers approached, he ran away. Officers found him at his mother’s house.

Sunday, June 24

12:13 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 900 block of East Main Street on suspicion of violating bond conditions after police responded to a verbal disturbance between him and another man. He was medically cleared due to extreme intoxication.

1:29 a.m.: A man was arrested at Angel’s End Zone, 309 N. Broadway, on a warrant for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge. He was medically cleared due to intoxication.

11:36 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 600 block of East Main Street on suspicion of violating bond conditions and indecent exposure after he reportedly urinated on the sidewalk. He was medically cleared due to intoxication.

1:49 p.m.: Police responded to a report of theft in the 300 block of South Broadway. A woman reported her purse had been stolen from her unlocked vehicle after 8 p.m. the previous day. The purse reportedly contained a wallet with $5 in cash, the woman’s driver’s license and a social security card. The case remains under investigation.

6:35 p.m.: A man was arrested in the Front Row Seat parking lot, 610 E. Main St., on suspicion of shoplifting after reportedly fighting another man. The man reportedly had a laceration on his head, but said he did not want to press charges. After noticing the large amount of beer in his possession, police contacted City Market employees, and security video showed him stealing several cases of beer the night before.

7:48 p.m.: A man was arrested at Maverick, 455 N. State St., on a warrant for failure to appear after police responded to a report he had been harassing customers at the Giant gas station. He was medically cleared due to intoxication.

9:38 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 10 block of South Madison Street on a La Plata County warrant for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge. He was medically cleared due to intoxication.
