Holiday gift sale to benefit Dolores library’s local history collection

Jessica Gonzalez, Debra Greenacre and Diana Donahue serve cake and root beer floats at the Dolores Library 60th birthday celebration in September 2016. Friends of the Dolores Public Library will host a holiday book and gift sale Dec. 7-9.

The Friends of the Dolores Public Library will hold a holiday book and gift sale in early December featuring affordable, gently used books for all ages, stuffed toys, vintage art, botanical prints and unique holiday cards.

Proceeds from the sale are slated to go toward updating and modernizing some of the formats of Dolores Public Library’s local history video collection, which library staff hope will increase access to these unique materials and preserve them for future enjoyment, library assistant Jessica Gonzalez said in a news release.

Members of the Friends of the Dolores Public Library get first pick of items at a Friends’ Members Presale on Dec. 7 from 3-5 p.m. The sale continues Dec. 8 from 9 – 3 p.m. and Dec. 9 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a clearance sale. Additionally, the Friends are running a silent auction for an heirloom Thunderbolt/Hoover apple tree seedling. The seedling was donated to the Friends of the Library by the Montezuma County Orchard Restoration Project. Proceeds from the silent auction will go toward improving the library’s garden.
