11:56 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 700 block of East Montezuma Avenue on six warrants for failing to appear in court.
12:30 p.m.: A woman was arrested on a warrant and on suspicion of shoplifting at Wal-Mart, 1835 E. Main St. Store employees claimed she and her husband had eaten an egg roll and corn dog without paying for them, and stolen two packages of ranch dressing, a container of tea and a pair of shoes. Her husband was issued a summons for shoplifting.
3:51 p.m.: Police responded to a report of shoplifting at Wal-Mart, 1835 E. Main St. Store employees claimed a man and a woman had bought three TVs, brought them out to their car, then re-entered the store and walked out with three identical TVs without paying for them. Police traced the credit card used in the purchase to an Aurora address but could not find the serial numbers for the TVs. The case remains under investigation.
3:58 p.m.: A woman was arrested at Montezuma County Court, 601 N. Mildred Road, on a warrant for failure to appear.
9:10 p.m.: A woman was arrested in the 10 block of North Elm Street on a warrant for failure to appear.
Thursday, March 30
10:40 p.m.: A man and a woman were served with warrants for failure to appear at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., after being transferred there from the Towaoc and La Plata County jails.
3:36 p.m.: A woman was arrested in the 800 block of East Montezuma Avenue on a warrant for failure to appear.
4:41 p.m.: A man was arrested at Denny’s, 2059 E. Main St., on suspicion of trespassing after restaurant employees reported he was looking into cars in the parking lot and checking to see if they were locked.
8:14 p.m.: A man was arrested at Centennial Park, 515 N. Mildred Road, on suspicion of a protection-order violation after someone in the park reported he had been fighting with two other men. The other men did not want to press charges.
Friday, March 31
8:42 a.m.: A man was arrested at Tire Max, 126 E. Main St., on two warrants for failure to comply and on suspicion of violating bond conditions and abusing toxic vapors, after store employees reported he was huffing glue out of a paper bag. Two tubes of industrial strength adhesive were found in the man’s backpack.
4:01 p.m.: A woman was arrested in the 800 block of East Main Street on suspicion of violating a protection order. Police were called when other people in the park reported the woman was thrashing around on top of a park bench and appeared highly intoxicated. She allegedly resisted arrest by lying on the ground and refusing to move until police officers put her in a patrol car.
5:39 p.m.: A man was issued a summons outside the Cortez Public Library, 202 N. Park St., on suspicion of trespassing. When officers arrived, the man was lying on top of a trash can outside the library, and he was transported to Southwest Memorial Hospital due to his high level of intoxication.
11:41 p.m.: A woman was arrested in the 20 block of South Broadway on a warrant for failure to appear after she was pulled over for speeding.
Saturday, April 1
2:30 a.m.: A woman was issued a summons in the 100 block of North Broadway on suspicion of DUI, DUI per se, driving without proof of insurance and failing to display headlamps when required.
1:17 p.m.: A man was issued a summons at Centennial Park, 800 E. Montezuma Ave., on suspicion of an open container violation.
Sunday, April 2
1:44 a.m.: A man was issued a summons in the 100 block of East First Street on suspicion of DUI, DUI per se and failure to stop at a stop sign.
3:29 p.m.: Police responded to a report of a vicious animal at Southwest Memorial Hospital, 1311 N. Mildred Road. A patient was being treated for a minor dog bite he said he received while feeding his pitbull mix puppy out of his hand. The responding officer told the man to contact police if anything similar happened again.
4:49 p.m.: A man was issued a summons in City Park, 802 E. Main St., on suspicion of possession of alcohol in the park.
9:53 p.m.: A man was arrested outside City Market, 508 E. Main St., on suspicion of trespassing after police received a report he was involved in a loud verbal argument with someone.
