West Slope poet laureate appearing at Cortez Public Library

Trommer encourages audience to see poetry in their own lives
Trommer

The Cortez Public Library hosts Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer, poet laureate of the Western Slope for 2015-2017, on Friday, Jan. 20.

Trommer’s poems have appeared in magazines including O Magazine and A Prairie Home Companion. Her other collections include “Intimate Landscape” and “Holding Three Things at Once,” a Colorado Book Award finalist.

Trommer encourages audiences to take on their own creative endeavors and see the poetry in their own lives, through an engaging mix of poetry, humor, music and song. Since 2006, she says, she has written a poem a day, finding words from parenting, farming, mountains, love and the moments of everyday life.

Trommer’s latest publication is a collaboration with Jill Sabella, an established artist who works with photography, drawing, painting, sculpture, and sumi ink and paper.

Refreshments will be served at the library, 202 N. Park St. The show starts at 10 a.m. For more information, call 970-565-8117.
