Southwest agricultural summit will be held in Lewis

Summit of local producers to be held Jan. 24

A 2017 Agricultural Outlook, Strategies and Economic Summit will be held on Jan. 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lewis-Arriola Community Center. Lunch will be provided.

Discussion items will include:

Local production costs of alfalfa, corn, wheat, oilseeds and cattle, and marketing opportunities for eachHedge contracting opportunities USDA Farm Service Agency marketing loans and farm facility loansFarm loans, requirements and structuringThe presenters will include Colorado State University professor and economist Norman Dalsted, CSU agriculture and business management economist Jenny Beiermann, Montezuma County FSA executive director Paul White, Larry McGee of Four Corners Community Bank and USDA loan officer Rick Cervenka. The organizers hope to make the summit an annual event.
