Mountain bike accident occurred at Rib Cage
The Phil’s World area is east of Cortez, across from the Montezuma County Fairgrounds.
Rescue crews responded Tuesday to a 911 call after a man crashed his mountain bike at Phil’s World on the Rib Cage section.
The 911 call came in at 10:40 a.m. for a man who crashed and sustained injuries. He was reported conscious but disoriented.
The Cortez Fire Protection District said that it deployed “The Mule,” an ambulance ATV that can travel on the trails and is equipped to carry out a patient.
The accident occurred three miles from the end of the trailhead.
Responders walked the man away from the scene.
