“Keeping Kids Safe Online” — May 12, 5:30-7 p.m.: The Internet can be a fantastic tool with the richest resources available in one place, yet it is also a dangerous and complex environment. This will be an informational session on how to protect children online and teach them to be responsible digital citizens. Dinner and on-site childcare will be provided. Space is limited, and people can sign up by calling the library at 533-7600.
“Colorado Water Plan: Southwest Basin Implementation Plan” — May 18, 7 p.m.: Colorado’s Water Plan provides a roadmap for solutions to the challenges facing the state and its residents for the management of this scarce resource, such as the future gap between supply and demand. Thousands of Coloradoans participated in the development of the plan, and it addresses tough issues from the standpoint of shared values. It focuses on the needs of multiple stakeholders, including farmers and ranchers, municipalities, water utilities, interstate compacts, and individual citizens.
Dolores Water Conservancy District General Manager Mike Preston will present an overview of the plan, with a focus on the Southwest Basin, followed by a question and answer session. Preston is also chairman of the Southwest Basin Roundtable.
