Cortez swimmers travel to Denver for state competitions

The five swimmers from the Cortez Leopard Sharks who qualified this winter for Senior State and Silver State competitions in Denver: Ryan Cutrone, Bailey Duran, Caisey Duran, Torey Duran and Tyler Cutrone.

Four swimmers from the Cortez Leopard Sharks swim club traveled to the University of Denver on Feb. 17-19 for the Colorado Senior State and Silver State competitions. A fifth Sharks swimmer, Victoria (Torey) Duran, will compete in the 14-and-under group at the Silver State, March 3-5.

Ryan Cutrone, competing in the boys 15-and-over group, placed 37th in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:04.04 and 28th in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:24.60.

Tyler Cutrone, also competing in the boys 15-and-over group, placed 84th in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.47) and 63rd in the 200 breaststroke (2:38.52).

Bailey Duran, competing in the girls 15-and-over group, placed 44th in the 400 individual medley (5:09.83) and 39th in the 200 breaststroke (2:41.96).

Caisey Duran, competing in the girls 15-and-over group, placed 76th in the 100 breaststroke (1:17.39) and 48th in the 200 breaststroke (2:46.94).

The swimmers have competed in fall/winter meets this season in Glenwood Springs, Cortez, Grand Junction and Montrose.
