M-CHS golfers Keetch, Rudosky qualify for state

Blake Keetch and Cris Rudosky finish in Top 15 at Class 3A Region 4 Tournament

After stellar seasons that included Top 10 finishes in numerous tournaments, Montezuma-Cortez High School golfers Blake Keetch and Cris Rudosky are set to compete in the Class 3A State Tournament.

The teammates’ opportunity to compete in their classification’s most prestigious high school event came as a result of solid finishes at the Class 3A Region 4 Tournament, which took place at Devil’s Thumb Golf Course in Delta on Sept. 18.

Blake Keetch’s 2-over-par round of 74, which included two birdies and an eagle on the par-4 14th hole, was good enough for sixth place overall.

Rudosky’s 6-over-par round of 78 was good enough to tie him for 11th place overall.

Other M-CHS golfers who competed in the Class 3A Region 4 Tournament included Justin Brunner and Tim Wyman, who finished tied for 49th overall with scores of 109.

As a team, Montezuma-Cortez High School finished 8th out of 15 schools that competed. Aspen High School, whose golfers took the top four spots in the individual standings, finished first in the team standings by 22 strokes.

The Colorado Class 3A State tournament will take place at Indian Peaks Golf Course in Lafayette.

The two-round tournament, which is scheduled to include 84 golfers, will begin on Oct. 2 and conclude on Oct. 3.
