The Journal

Montezuma County commissioners on Monday suspended the countywide fire ban, effective immediately, according to a news release from Emergency Manager Paul Hollar.

Based on the moisture from the monsoon season, the wildfire danger has decreased, Hollar said. Commissioners suspended the ban based on recommendations from the Cortez Fire Protection District, the Montezuma County Sheriff’s Office.

Dolores County, the Bureau of Land Management, Dolores County and Mesa Verde National Park also have suspended their fire bans.
