Sunday, July 2

2:48 a.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a disturbance in the 24000 block of County Road F.5. A woman said she had crashed her vehicle into a ditch after being kicked out of a man’s house where she had been staying. Because the woman appeared to be intoxicated, deputies contacted a relative to drive her home. They also contacted social services to take custody of a juvenile who was with the woman. Colorado State Patrol took over the investigation of the traffic accident.

Monday, July 3

4:49 p.m.: A woman was arrested on a warrant at the Giant Gas Station, 501 Railroad Ave., Dolores.

Tuesday, July 4

12:38 a.m.: Deputies assisted the Cortez Police Department and Colorado State Patrol in providing security at the scene of a traffic accident in the 13000 block of County Road 25.

Thursday, July 6

2:32 a.m.: A woman was arrested in the parking lot of City Market, 508 E. Main St., on suspicion of DUI and careless driving after she reportedly crashed into a display and a concrete barrier next to the City Market gas pumps. She was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital before being taken to jail, due to severe intoxication.

Friday, July 7

2:31 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of shoplifting at Cox Corner Store, 18794 U.S. Highway 491. Store employees said a man and a woman had stolen a bottle of vodka valued at $40.89. Deputies were not able to immediately locate the couple.

Monday, July 10

12:13 a.m.: A woman was arrested in the 19000 block of County Road 34.6 on suspicion of DUI and careless driving after she reportedly drove her car into a pond on private property. She was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital, where she reportedly had to be restrained because of her “uncontrollable” behavior. She reportedly spent the entire time at the hospital talking to people who were not there.

11:14 p.m.: A deputy attempted to serve a man with a warrant at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., but the man had left the jail by the time he arrived. Deputies were unable to locate the suspect immediately.

Wednesday, July 12

4:09 a.m.: A woman was arrested in the 28000 block of Colorado Highway 145 on a warrant from San Juan County, Utah, and on suspicion of first-degree assault on a peace officer. Montezuma County deputies responded to the scene after the woman reportedly pointed a gun at Dolores and San Juan deputies when they tried to serve her with the warrant and then barricaded herself, three children and four dogs inside a tent. San Juan deputies said the woman had taken her children out of foster care illegally, and law enforcement had pursued her into Montezuma County. After a short standoff in which deputies waited behind vehicles and trees with their guns drawn, a Montezuma deputy convinced the woman to leave the tent unarmed. The woman’s gun and a box of ammunition were found in the tent, and deputies contacted Social Services to take custody of her children and dogs.

Friday, July 14

6:08 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of theft in the 300 block of Railroad Avenue, Dolores. A man claimed he had rented out a vehicle and it had not been returned on time. The renter returned the vehicle a few hours later, saying he had misunderstood the rental agreement, and the man who reported the theft decided not to press charges.

Tuesday, July 18

10:29 p.m.: Deputies performed a security check at Pueblo Community College, 33057 U.S. Highway 160. Two doors were unlocked and easily accessible from the outside, but the deputies did not find any evidence of theft or property damage.

Wednesday, July 19

1:40 a.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a bear getting into trash cans in the 800 block of Central Avenue, Dolores. They found about 20 trash containers that appeared to have been knocked over by a bear, but did not locate the animal itself.

7:47 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a disturbance in the 200 block of 15th Street, Dolores. A woman claimed her ex-boyfriend had put a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her. Deputies were unable to locate the suspect immediately, but they obtained a warrant for his arrest.

11:55 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 46000 block of County Road G.3 on suspicion of assault. Another man claimed the suspect had pointed a gun at him, so responding deputies approached his residence with their own guns drawn, but the suspect reportedly did not resist arrest. A handgun found in his home was confiscated.
