The forgotten working class

When did the Republicans become the friend of the American worker? When did Republicans begin to feel their pain?

My dad, Max Riker, left his birthplace in Germany during the worst depression in German history only to arrive in the USA in time for the worst depression in American history.

He was a brewery worker, a flour mill worker then earned his way to become a journeyman union electrician (IBEW Local 193). He worked like a dog to support my dear mother and six kids. He told us, “If you’re going to work and bring your lunch box and tools to make a living for your family, you gotta be a Democrat because the Republicans are for the rich people.”

See anything wrong with that statement? Now, we have a president with a Cabinet of billionaires brought to the seat of power thanks greatly to the American worker.

One of Trump’s team, a dude without an ounce of authority, has fired thousands of honest American workers and donated around $24 million to buy his own Supreme Court judge. No sale.

What does my neighbor with his Trump flag flying have in common with Trump and his billionaire amigos? (the answer is nothing). There was a time if citizen Trump called citizen Riker a communist to his face, because he was a proud Democrat and union worker, citizen Max, as a capable Golden Gloves boxer, wouldn’t have tolerated it.

Buck up, American workers. You made a huge mistake. Own it!
